- How long has the model you are interested in been in production and being sold to people like you interested in DIY wind turbine generators for home energy production?
- How long was it field tested and by whom? How many sold per year since first year of production? It should increase year by year.
- What kind of technical support do you offer for those wanting to do set up their own home DIY wind turbine generator?
- How many turbines are still running?
- Has this turbine seem many design changes or upgrades, if so when and were existing owners offered these upgrades? If so at what cost?
- If the model has never been upgraded why not?
- Has the wind energy turbine ever met the American wind energy association small wind turbine performance and safety standards for the life of the unit?
- Has the power curve been independently tested?
- Has there been independent energy output testing done for this model? If so How where and by whom?
- Is there a guarantee for the for the energy output for this model like there is for farm turbines?
- Is there a way to shut the turbine down due to high winds or for any other reasons such as maintenance or vacations?
- How long is the warranty and can it be extended?
- What does the warranty cover or exclude?
- What rate of warranty work has been done on these turbines?
- What field problems have you seen or heard of with this turbine?
- Can you recommend an installer for my area who is experienced in all types of wind energy turbines?
Not all of the above questions will be answered but most should be to your satisfaction. Some, the industry hasn’t caught up to yet like they have for farm generators. It’s still good to keep asking these questions because they will eventually raise the standard so the industry has even more credibility which will increase their business.
